Bonnie Young

Recognized by fashion insiders for interpreting global inspirations that inform distinctive ready-to-wear, Bonnie Young launched her women’s collection for Fall 2016. Her design perspective for BY. Bonnie Young is rooted in a modern point of view – for women who look for great versatile pieces to add to her wardrobe. Her designs are artful with a powerful sensibility that speak directly to her customers.

With over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry – Young started her career at Ralph Lauren after graduating from Cornell University.

Joining Donna Karan in 1992, Young was based in Milan, heading inspiration and international fabric development. It was a defining moment in fashion and Bonnie Young had firsthand insight on global inspiration impacting the industry. An extensive trip to Southeast Asia forged a design sensibility with Karan, now her protégé, which transformed the Donna Karan brand.

After the Donna Karan Company was acquired by LVMH in 2000, Young was named Creative Director of Collection and returned to New York. It was a time of influence and brand building for seven years until Bonnie Young left the company for a singular new venture – to open her own company designing clothes for children.

Hers was a luxury level collection for children and she opened her own store in Aspen which quickly attracted global editorial coverage and high profile collaborations with Adidas and Swarovski.

Young is an author, noted photographer, and curator of museum exhibitions featuring her photography, collection of tribal costumes, and jewelry. She is the founder of Fashion Fights for Children’s Rights, an initiative to support the broad medical needs of children. In 2013 she was honored for her work on behalf of Solving Kids Cancer.

Bonnie Young and her husband, a photographer/creative director, live in Manhattan as do their three children.
